अलंकार  और  उसके भेद  अलंकार-  " काव्य की शोभा बढ़ाने वाले तत्व अलंकार कहे जाते हैं।  "अलंकार के दो  भेद हैं।  शब्दालांकर , अर्थालंकार  1. शब्दालंकार-  ये शब्द पर आधारित होते हैं।   शब्दालंकार तीन  प्रकार के  हैं -  १,अनुप्रास , २. यमक , ३. शलेष ।  १. अनुप्रास  अलंकार : काव्य में जब एक वर्ण से प्रारम्भ होने वाले शब्दों की रसानुकूल दो या दो से अधिक बार आवृत्ति होती है, वहाँ अनुप्रासअलंकार होता है। जैसे : तरनि-तनुजा तट तमाल तरुवर बहु छाये।          भूरी -भूरी भेदभाव भूमि से भगा दिया ।          यहाँ  पर  त  की आवृत्ति बार बार  है।  २, यमक  अलंकार : जहाँ कोई शब्द एक से अधिक बार प्रयुक्त हो और उसके अर्थ अलग -अलग हों वहाँयमक अलंकार होता है।  जैसे :     कनक कनक तें सौगुनी, मादकता अधिकाय।             या खाये बौराय जग, वा पाये बौराय।।             यहाँ पर  पहले में कनक का अर्थ ‘सोना’ तथा दूसरे का  ‘धतूरा’ है।           ३. श्लेष अलंकार :  जहाँ कोई शब्द एक ही बार प्रयुक्त हो , किन्तु प्रसंग भेद में उसके अर्थ एक से अधिक हों , वहां शलेष अलंकार है।
